Firstly we welcome Daniel Hummerdal, Chief Advisor Health and Safety Innovation at Worksafe New Zealand to cover how we can take responsibility to develop new approaches to our Health and Safety performances within the work environment followed by James McKenzie, Ski Area Manager at Mt Hutt on the importance of engaging worker participation across health & safety effectively and the positive impacts to your businesses.

Daniel Hummerdal - Chief Advisor Health and Safety Innovation, Worksafe New Zealand
Daniel Hummerdal is the Chief advisor health and safety innovation at WorkSafe New Zealand. Daniel has worked in a range of innovation roles in safety critical industries such as mining, construction and aviation, in Europe and in Australia. He started his career as a commercial pilot, but retrained to graduate as a psychologist in 2008. His goal is to assist organisations to realise more of their innovative and creative potential.
James McKenzie - Ski Area Manager, Mt Hutt
James has worked in various roles within NZSki Ltd (owner/operator of Mt Hutt, Coronet Peak and the Remarkables ski areas) including GM Technical Operations and currently in his present role as Ski Area Manager. As the Ski Area Manager, James is responsible for leading product, asset and people strategies along with the day-to-day business operations. His proven track record of delivering improved product quality, operational efficiency whilst maintaining safety performance and customer service is a great attribute and one that has seen Mt Hutt go from strength to strength, achieving an industry-leading net promoter score, being crowned the 2018 winner of the ACC Champion Workplace Safety award at the prestigious Westpac Champion Business Awards and scooping the title of NZ’s Best Ski Resort at the World Ski Awards!
