As the mayoral race heats up, we look forward to hosting two of the mayoral candidates at this informative event which is not to be missed.
Two mayoral candidates*, Phil Mauger and David Meates will face off on matters of importance to Christchurch businesses at The Chambers live Mayoral Candidate Forum ahead of local elections.
Join us on Tuesday 27 September to gain insight on where Candidates stand on matters of importance to you, your business, and our community.
This forum will provide you with an insight into the objectives of the candidates, as well as understanding the values each candidate will bring to local government - enabling you to make a considered decision about the future leadership of Christchurch.
*Note: Candidates were selected for forum via member poll.
David was born and raised in Christchurch and cares deeply about the future of this city. He was the CEO of the Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) from 2009 to 2020. David is now committed to using his experience, leadership skills and collaborative approach to working with residents, to make his hometown New Zealand’s most attractive and vibrant city.
Phil is currently the Christchurch City Councillor for Burwood. Prior to that he ran a family business, Maugers Contracting, for more than 20 years. Phil has now resigned from his business to focus on running for Mayor. His number one priority is to rebuild people’s trust in Council and to make Christchurch the best place to live, work, invest, and play.

Ryan Boswell is a 1 News reporter for Television New Zealand, based in his hometown of Christchurch. He started his journalism career over 15 years ago, working across television, radio and print. Ryan has worked in both daily news and long format current affairs, and has travelled extensively as a political reporter and international correspondent.
