MANAGING MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE

Learn how to navigate the challenging issue of mental health in the workplace – how to manage it in a way that’s respectful, responsible and good for your team and your business.

Mental health affects every one of us but it’s a subject that can be tricky to navigate in the workplace.   This course is for anyone who manages or is responsible for people.  It gives you the understanding, tools and real-life action plan so you have the confidence to have conversations around mental health and actively support and manage your team – and your organisation – to ensure a healthy workforce and workplace.

In this full day course, Jordan Smith from EAP Works facilitates an open and confidential environment where together you will demystify mental health and mental illness and put in place an action plan for how to manage mental health within your organisation.

Around 50% of adults will be affected by some form of mental illness in their lifetime.  That statistic, coupled with our current global environment (and the fact Canterbury’s had a few years of hard knocks), makes understanding how to identify and support mental wellbeing increasingly important.  Whether you’re a supervisor, HR professional, manager or business owner – this course is for you.  [This paragraph can be removed if too much text, although I do like the opportunity to explain the context and need].

In this course Jordan will unpack what mental health and mental illness is and give you the knowledge of your legal obligations in this space.  You will learn to how to recognise the early warning signs around mental health and how to respond in a way that’s responsible, is good for the staff member and good for the business.

Jordan facilitates robust conversations during this course, where the challenges in the mental health space are openly discussed in a safe, non-judgmental way.  You will come away with an understanding of how to balance your responsibilities to your staff and the business, and will have the knowledge, skills and – most importantly – the confidence to manage mental health in your business context.

Along with knowledge and confidence, you will end the day with an action plan developed just for you – and your organisation – that you can slot into your HR policies so when the need arises you have the plan and support in place to manage it.

It’s a practical, real-life course which Jordan delivers with his trademark fun, engaging manner.  An investment in your staff, your business and your future.
