Members receive free advice and discounted consultancy across a wide range of employment matters. We believe in empowering managers by coaching and working alongside them.
We’re often referred to as ‘the best kept secret in town’. Our free advice extends across a wide range of enquiries, meaning most enquiries won’t cost you anything (above your annual Chamber membership fee). And we believe in being upfront about any consultancy fees. We’ll never charge you, unless agreed prior. That’s our promise.
Our range of expertise is broad – and if we can’t assist you, we will recommend others who can. Simply put, you can trust us as your first point of call for any employment related matter.

Melicia Clough (Mel)
Melicia (Mel) has over 25 years of experience as an HR professional in New Zealand and the UK. She’s worked across a wide range of sectors including retail, manufacturing, education, insurance and the public sector. Mel can help employers navigate anything to do with people in their business.
Mel’s down-to-earth approach makes her special. She enjoys making things straight-forward, easy to understand and practical and workable. You’ll most likely enjoy a laugh with her over a phone call too!
Mel is known for providing coaching and support that gets results, and she particularly enjoys providing support to small to medium sized businesses.
Mel is a jack of all trades in the people space, but has specialist expertise in: training, performance management, change management, disciplinary processes, exit challenges, recruitment and retention, engagement of employees and leadership capability.

Keith’s had over 40 years providing assistance to business owners and HR advisors, providing tailored advice and support so it’s fit for your business.
Keith’s the perfect complement to Melicia, offering expertise in employment agreements, employment relationship challenges, restructuring and change management, and can assist and represent employers at mediation. He understands employment law and can help members to ensure they’re compliant with their legal obligations.

SkillsConnect Canterbury (Migrant Support)
SkillsConnect Canterbury is a free, government-funded service for employers of migrants in Canterbury. Delivered by The Chamber, the team at SkillsConnect Canterbury can assist employers with any queries or concerns about recruiting and retaining newcomers in your workplace.
SkillsConnect Canterbury also provides employers of migrants with advice, information and support to successfully integrate their new migrant staff into the Kiwi workplace.
Our team can meet with you to discuss any challenges with cultural differences, and offer free in-house workshops to both Kiwi and migrant staff on settlement and intercultural communication.
